What ever happened to the day of getting a new phone and being able to just plugged it in and it worked?
Today at the office we received 5 new VOIP phones, (Voice Over IP) the phone connects to the computer, runs on digital lines and has more features than should be humanly possible.
Let's just talk about 1 of the features.
Voice Mail
I can program a message if I am out of the office, one while I am in the office but on another line, there is one for a fellow co worker to let them know that I am busy at the moment and will get back with them. There are also voice mail options so that if I am out of the office I can forward to my cell phone, have the message email me and then I can call in and retrieve my messages (like I didn't already get a one). There is a message for a mid morning break, lunch break, afternoon break and then when I have left to go home message. There are also options for voicemail that I can ask you if you would like to be sent to someone else.
There are over 100 features on this phone, I will master them, I am going to make sure that I understand this phone like no other phone. Hey if I can use a blackberry I can figure this out right?
My Chairman took one of them home today to program the Auto Attendant, next thing you know he is dialing my extention number and speaking to me. Ok, if the terriosts don't like spying on phone lines they should now be at my office. Technology is moving so fast is scares me.
Plus side to all of this, the monthly bill for 5 phone lines and including all of the above features is $200.00 less per month. Now why would anyone stay with AT&T?

Glad i am not there helping with that installation, it takes me an entire day, a row of oreos and a few cups of coffee to hook up to wireless.
You are so right. I have however started to program the phone, too many features for one girl to handle.
