Ok, can someone please tell me why it is OK for men to take off from work and go to a ball game, or gather 3 other friends and go for a round of golf?
Today in the office one of our members brought in 12 passes for golf, the only catch is that they needed to be used by July 31. So, I get on the phone and start calling all of the men that I know who like to play golf. Now I am not complaining about having them out of the office so that I can have some peace and quite. What I am wondering is why can women not call 3 friends and take off from work to go shopping?
Really isn't it about the same? If 4 guys can take off from work to head out onto the golf course and do some business and network, couldn't 4 women take off from work, get together and go shopping out to lunch and be networking? I think so, I may just start a new movement of women shopping.
Think about it this way, if golf tournaments can bring in a lot of money, couldn't shopping tournaments do the same. Golf tournaments charge an entrance fee, we could charge women to shop. Couldn't we get big stores to sponsor us to wear their clothes, get closer to the sale items, longest drive, closest to the store. Picture putting women on teams of 4 and having them shop for certain items, the ones with the best bargains win!! Who in retail would not want 144 women out shopping, let's not forget the food, because we all know that when we shop we need to eat.
Golf tournaments bring in thousands of dollars, I bet shopping tournaments can do the same. One thing is for sure, as a chamber president we always look to finding a new target audience (no pun intended!)
Yep! I have a new event at the Chamber. Professional Women Shopping Tournament, sponsored by "Chico's or Coldwater Creek" Tournament will be held on (Maybe Black Friday could be the day, or how about July when they need the money in the stores) All proceeds will go to...it won't really matter because Girls Just Want To Have Fun.
Sign up forms are attached, I will take checks, cash and all major credit cards. I look forward to seeing you at the "Professional Women's Shopping Tournament".
