Living in Florida in the summer is not always the best place to be when you have a chocolate lab named Hershey.
We rescued hershey from the Humane Society about 7 years ago. Cute and will snuggle up as good as any dog that weighs 75 lbs. He likes to chew on his chewy bones, and of course sleep. But when the afternoon heat kicks in and the clouds are starting to form I know that soon there will be thunder and possibly lighting. Wait a minute, I live in Florida the lightning capital of the world, of course it is going to be lightning.
Just let the thunder start to roll and make noise and Hershey starts to shiver. I don't understand the reason, I know that the Hurricane season of 2004 was probably more than he could handle, after returning home from evacuation with Frances, he and I spent time waiting for Jeanne in a 4x6 closet i think he was thinking to himself, "self I need to get out of here". He does NOT like the thunder, in fact, he tries to hide, well there is no place to hide, only carpet to dig. That's right the new berber is gone, only hard wood floors now. Not even a throw rug is safe!
If you have any words of wisdom, please pass them along. I never thought that I would love to have a dog around but I do. However, if I was him I would run away. We work long hours, so he is kept inside all day, ususally from 7:30 am to 7:30 or later in the pm. No messes, just the berber carpet. Well, I could actually get rid of the vacuum, no need for one of those anymore.
So the next time you buy chocolate and it is made from Hershey's you will remember this blog.

I have one for you, they are moving the hershey chocolate plant in Hershey, Pa. and taking it to Mexico.
I have no words of advice for this dog all I can say is thanks for letting me know they don't grow out of the chewing and digging. I now know there is no hope that my now 6month old already 40 pounds Boxer will ever stop :-)
Oh please, you just wait if you think that it could be over soon. You not only have the boxer, you have the baby that will be chewing up stuff as well.
Ok, we had a bad round of thunderstorms today. Hershey sure didn't like that one. Even the neighbor said it was bad.
I guess that is why he decided to run away. Oh, wait, I hear him scratching at the door, He must be back!!!
Annie is scared of the Boxer next door now. If he barks she refuses to poop.
does the dog next door bark alot?
Not to much just when he is trying to get Annies' attention. He is a boy, I think he likes her :-)
